Brenda Feldman is a sixteen-year-old girl who works in a mall at Fotofun. During a school soccer game in the "Pilot", Manny Delgado sees her cycling past and instantly falls in love with her. He decides to go to the mall where she works to read her a poem he wrote for her. Despite his father-in-law Jay Pritchett's trying to bribe Manny out of confessing his love for Brenda, he still approaches her with encouragement from his mother Gloria Pritchett. He then reads her the poem and is crushed when she informs him that she has a boyfriend. However, she does give him a framed picture of him as a cowboy.
As Manny returns to his parents, he says glumly "I gave her my heart, and she gave me a picture of me as an old-time cowboy."
