Pilar Ramirez (neé de la Immaculada Jimenez-Morales) is Gloria Pritchett's mother.

In "Fulgencio", she and her daughter Sonia visit Jay and Gloria shortly after Joe is born.

In "The Old Man & the Tree", she visits Gloria and her family for Christmas and is making cookies that were made by her grandmother who made a recipe of the cookies and she seems to take a liking to Claire, treating her like a daughter more than Gloria, but then has to get in between the two when they start fighting and soon things are resolved.

She dislikes her daughter's husband, Jay and they both clash about how Joe should be named.

  • Pilar's portrayer Elizabeth Peña died on October 14, 2014 from liver disease which was said to have come from alcohol abuse. Season 6 episode Halloween 3: AwesomeLand which aired on the same day was dedicated to her.
  • Her character may have been inspired by Pilar from the 1998 Coen brothers movie The Big Lebowski, although this is unknown for sure.
